Attendees can earn either IOFM CEUs (towards an IOFM Certification) or NASBA CPE credits for their conference attendance. The majority of attendees who are looking for continuing education credits are looking for IOFM CEUs, which are easier to earn.
Anyone with an Certification from IOFM is eligible to self-report a comprehensive 13 CEUs towards their IOFM Certification on IOFM.com/my-account. They do not need to check in/out of sessions; this amount is given regardless of specific session attendance.
IOFM is authorized to distribute NASBA CPE credits. While these credits are made for CPAs, many other organizations recognize/accept NASBA CPE credits. CPE credits are given based on session attendance (including duration of attendance). In order to give credit, we need to be able to prove to NASBA that the attendee was in the room for a specific amount of time. To collect this information, we use Conferences.io (an online audience engagement tool). Attendees “check in” to a session on the website iofm.cnf.io using the unique Session Code posted outside of the session room. When they leave, they “check out” using a button on the website. Most attendees complete this process from their phones, but they can use any internet-connected device.
Besides ensuring that your session description contains clearly articulated learning objectives, you can use the the official APP2P Conference PowerPoint template, which includes Slide #2 as a reminder to attendees to “check in” for NASBA CPE credit. If you could take a moment at the beginning and end of your session to help remind attendees to check in/check out, it would improve the overall conference experience. And, on the rare occasion that an attendee does not have an internet-connected device, they may ask you to sign a paper verifying that they were in attendance. Even though it is a small number of attendees who actually require NASBA CPE credit, it really matters for those who need it. Besides helping them maintain their CPA license, it is frequently how they were able to receive company approval to attend. We appreciate your cooperation!
